7th: We are wrapping up our rock cycle lesson with making different types of rocks out of starbursts! We are also doing mini rock reports out of a rock of the student’s choice.

6th: We will be focusing on how plants grow by learning photosynthesis vocabulary, practice spelling, and watching videos about plant growth.

Welcome back!

7th Grade: This week we are learning about the rock cycle and geological time. We will be watching videos, reading articles and having class discussions on this topic.

6th Grade: This week we are starting our Life Science Unit. We will start by focusing on plants and photosynthesis by taking notes and creating a leaf craft.

6th grade: We will be constructing the different phases of the moon and different moon structures out of play-doh. Then, we will be working on a study guide in order to be successful for our test NEXT WEEK.

7th grade: We will be finishing our note taking on fossils, then making various fossils out of play-doh, and finishing out the week with a study guide for NEXT WEEK’s test.

6th Graders: Students will be working with clay, paint, foam and other materials in order to make a model of a planet or star.

7th Graders: Students will be working with cardboard or coding in order to make a working pinball machine.

Both grades have started PBL (project based learning) in science!

6th Grade: Our PBL projects are for our Space Unit. We will be making museum displays about our solar system that are accessible! This week we are focusing on creating our project groups and finding what we want our project subject to be.

7th Grade: Our PBL projects are for our Physics unit. We will be making pinball machines that can be played either virtually or physically! This week we are focusing on creating our project groups and finding a theme for our machines!

6th Grade: This week students are focusing on graphing and graphing motion through various videos, games, and interactive slides.

7th Grade: This week students are focusing on elements and atoms with the goal of understanding the similarities and differences between elements and atoms. Students are also working on an element project where they are researching their own assigned element and creating an element square that will be hung up in the Pre-Academy hallway!
