This week we have a few independant projects as well as assignments. Some of the students are still working on BHM work while others are moving into other projects.

6th grade-Finishing our ABC of BHM and creating art work with Yarn!

7th grade- we will be starting our pointalism lessons this week and finishing our BHM Bingo assignments.

8th grade- We will be finishing our BHM bingo game and working on mosaic black overlays

2D art- Digital mosaics from a stock photo using Google Draw

3D art- Paper quilling masterpieces- Due date TBD but soon

Home Ec- working on sewing stitches and button attaching

JANUARY ART

Good Morning ! This month and into February we will be looking at Black History Month with various activities across the grades

6th grade- Starting this year with winter themed activities. Last week we worked on snow globes and 3D snowflakes in class. Today we finished our snow globes, and began a BHM crossword to better aquaint them with some of the past and present great figures.

7thand 8th grade- Last week we began the timeline of 28 events that changed American history. These were all done by African American giants. They read through the book and we discussed the events. They then placed these are a timeline and illustrated. These are being finished on Monday. We will then finish our history crossword and move into the bio quilt of Black history.

2D- We are choosing a Black poet to interpret their work

3D – paper quilling masterpieces this week

Home Ec- Last week we “got to know you” and discussed needs and wants. This week there are changes being made, so the plans are fluid. Up date to come

Here we go into the Christmas season! So excited to do some of the Art things we have planned. First we have to finish the work from before Thanksgiving. Below are the plans this week.

6th-Sixth Grade is finishing their owls from before thanksgiving ( due Monday) They will begin the illustration of the 12 days of Christmas after that.

7th-seventh grade put the final touches on their paper quilling turkeys (due monday) and began the ugly Christmas Sweater for a specific person.

8th- eighth grade is finishing their megan coyle story scenes ( scene one due on Monday) then we shall move to Christmas agamagraphs

Noveber 15-19 Art

Last week before Thanksgiving!! I cannot express the excitment! This week we will be starting some longer term things, but will probably not finish until after Thanksgiving. Which is fine. That gives glue time to dry and everyone time to tweak ideas.

3D Art- We are starting the “stuff” Portraits. This is a first for me, so taking it slow and adjusting as we go

2D Art- We have finished the “drawing in real life” work and are moving to Butterflies. Each student will choose 10 types of butterflies to construct and string into a mobile. The main focus of this project is getting the colors and shape of the insect as close to life as possible.

8th Grade- This week we are looking at still life and the art of Megan Coyle

7th Grade- After a bit of a delay we are finallly looking at paper rolling/quilling to create either a picture frame or an initial of their choosing.

6th Grade- In 6th grade we are looking at Owls- the interesting fact about them and creating a rendition of a type of own of their choice.

Careers in art- We are looking at holiday crafting. I would like each student to choose a holiday craft to create for their familes

We are trying to finishe up Halloween and starting looking toward our Veteran’s Day rememberance. Parents please check your student’s Elearning assignments are finished when we have those days. It is starting to be a trend that they are not completeing simple assignments on Elearning days.

6th grade- Patriotic symbols and Vet Day history. Leaf People and Leaf stamping

7th grade- Eagle puzzle and Megan Coyle still life art. History of Vet Day

8th grade- Soldier sillouette color theory and Autumn leaf project

2D art-Finishing up the holes project, and starting ‘drawing from life’ Simple project.

Week of 10/26 Art

It is a shorter week this week with an Elearning day on Friday. Students will still have an assignment for all 8 classes on google classroom while teachers will be doing some professional development.

6th grade- Friday we started our combination collaborative monster. The students began drawing the head, passed it to the next person who drew the body, who passed it to the next person who drew the hips/legs. Tuesday we will be learning how to make tessellation characters and stencils

7th grade- Friday they finished the combo monsters. We are starting tessellation today

8th grade- Friday they finished the combo monsters. We are starting tessellations today.

2D- We are learing shading and depth with our cavernous portrait.

3D- TBD- students have 3 choices, we are still deciding

Careers in art- Picking a career to do their power point on for class.

Welcome back! After break there is a slow start to be sure! We are entering the Halloween season, and that is an art opportunity! Monday all classes will get a simple background on the history of Halloween.

6th grade- We will discuss the Artist Jose Posada and see his la Catrina which is the inspiration of the sugar skulls seen in Hispanic celebrations of the Day of the Dead. They will then create their own Sugar Skulls. Wednesday and Friday we will be working on watercolor haunted houses.

They will then create their own Sugar Skulls. Wednesady and Friday we will be discussing the typical animals associated with halloween and how to add texture to their drawings.

8th grade- On Friday before break we started sidewalk view perspective color wheels. I collected these and redistributed them today. They finished them up and also started the sugar skull side project. Wednesday and Friday we will be looking at the work of Posada and the students will create their own skeletons doing everyday activities.

Art Week of 10/4/21

Whew that last week went by too fast! Sorry for the derp! This week is the LAST week of the quarter and we will be cleaning up the assignments from September. This week is an adjusted week with Friday being Yellow. I have attached the yellow scedule to all my classroom feeds to help. Every class will meet on Friday with a 45minute duration.

6th- Last week we discussed Idioms. The assignment was to use the expression and illustrate 4 of them LITERALLY. Each student recieved one sheet of paper folded it into 4ths and began the project. It is due on October 4th (Monday) and we will then work on any missing assignments from September. There will also be a 20 point bonus assignment for any student caught up that would like the opportunity.

8th- Last week we finished Frida Kahlo and also ran through Salvador Dali. As a culmination of Dali the students were given a section of one of his most famous paintings “Elephants” cut up into squares. Their job was to color the squares as they wished (crazy if they wanted) and reassemble it. This was due Thursday as a class only assignment. This week we will be working on “a corner of my room” project for Monday and Wednesday. If they finish this, they will have the opportunity to complete all September work and the bonus opportunity.

2D- Slice of heaven is what we started last week and it is due on Monday this week. The instructions were to think of your favorite place. The one place you are Zen and happy. Now Draw it in a piece of pie or cake. We are using the “piece of heaven in a literal sense with a figuative twist! If they finish this, they will have the opportunity to complete all September work and the bonus opportunity.

3D- Piggy backing off of 2D art’s assignment, we began slice of heaven as well. The twist is what 2d does on paper, 3d Builds into a display. They must construct a piece of pie that opens into their slice of heaven. This is Due on Friday this week.

Careers- finishing weaving project started on Friday (last week) and discussing textiles.

September 15- October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. In art we will be taking the time to appreciate the art of the culture and the various individuals that paved the way for their decendants. Below is the plan, always subject to change or extended time if needed:

6th- Collaborative poster depicting famous Hispanic Artists. Learning their stories.

7th-Frido Kahlo Bio and Collaborative poster

8th- Picaso Bio and self portrait/Cross word puzzle in groups ( started last Thursday)

2D- Salvado Dali bio and Tall Animal rendition

A WHOLE 5 DAY WEEK?????! What are we going to do !? 🙂

3D This week we are finishing our seasonal trees and mapping out our string art signs

2D- We will be painting/coloring our Frank Big Bear Creations.

Careers in Art- after going through our favorite career choices last week, we will be experiencing them this week.

6th- We will be learning about Jasper Johns and his unique way of putting numbers in a composition. We will then choose our 4 favorite numbers and create our own then painting with water colors.

7th-This week we will be diving into Hinduism and it’s many artistic stylings. Specifically we will look at the most important gods and goddesses of the religion and the powers they wield.

8th- Our Monet assignment will be due on Tuesday of this week and we will be moving on to Picasso. We will look at his different works, and Create our own self portrait using cut and paste collage techniques. Dont forget the ART magazine assignment will be due on Thursday. (yes its a grade!)
