Algebra I Semester 1

Compass quizzes for unit 1 are due by Monday.  The Khan Academy assignments are also due on Monday as well.  We will be reviewing for our test on Monday and Tuesday.  We will then take our Unit test on Wednesday.

GRADES:

Grades are current in Skyward at this time.  I have only entered one Compass grade and one Waterford grade for January.  With our delays and snow days, I don’t feel like we had adequate time on the digital curriculum or in our routine so I only took a grade this week.  Weekly grades will resume next week.

Spelling: Words are worth 2 points this semester. One point is awarded for spelling the word correctly. For the other point,   Level One students will get a point for using capitals correctly and Level Two will get a point for using capitals correctly AND not having any reversals.  An extra point is awarded based on these guidelines for each word on the dictation as well.  So now dictation guidelines are as follows: Each spelling word is worth 3 points, non-spelling words are worth 2 points, a point is awarded for a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and another point for correct punctuation.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

CONFERENCES:

Several parents have asked if they could schedule a parent/teacher conference with me.  I would love to set up conferences throughout the month of February with anyone who feels like they would like to touch base with me.  If you wish to schedule a conference, please contact me through REMIND 101 or jhornocker@goapa.org with a day and time that you have in mind.  I will verify my availability and confirm with you quickly.  If you want to give me a couple possibilities, that works as well.  Below are the times of my availability.

MONDAY-WEDNESDAY: 9:55-10:25

THURS-FRIDAY: 12:35-1:05

MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY 3:30, 4:00

(I will not be available on 2/7 or 2/12.)

Give three examples where “ethics” may depend on the person viewing the situation.  In other words, examples where, depending on who you are, you might see ethics differently.  Write these so I can read them…..you know who you are…and be ready to discuss them on Monday.
